Line, the cross-platform messaging service, has debuted a new app called Line Whoscall on Android platform. It’s a standalone app that helps you identify anonymous SMS messages and phone calls.
The app is basically a modernized version of an application from Gogolook, the Taipei-based company, which had acquired by Line last month.
Line Whoscall functionality is similar to the original Whoscall app. When you get a call from an anonymous number, the app navigates through its database of more than 600 million phone numbers, drawn from multiple sources, to find the source of the caller. With this, you can block telemarketers, or get to know whether it’s from the pizza delivery boy.
If you are familiar with the original Whoscall app, you will encounter that this Android version is almost the same, though it features a Line’s signature brilliant-green colored palette and popular cartoon characters.
Currently, the app is available only for Android users. The company says that they will roll out an iOS version in the future, but it does not have a specific date for that right now.
Android users can download the new Line Whoscall app from the following link. The app is compatible with devices that run on Android 2.2 and above firmware.
