Microsoft is expanding its reach. The company has just revealed the most-anticipated app, Office Mobile to Android! This app has been made available for iOS users over a month, which is a freebie for Office 365 subscribers.
As specified before, the app requires Office 365 subscription to access. If you qualify this, you are free to view, edit and access MS Office files. But it doesn’t support creating spreadsheet, presentation and document. Rather, it only helps you to edit the existing files and share them easily.
The look and the functionality is pretty much similar to that of iOS version, but differs from Windows RT/8 version. It’s a competent app, though the feature set is narrow than the desktop application.
The app also supports device sync. All your files sync with the SkyDrive storage service. In other words, you can take up files on your phones where you left off on your PC.
Similar to the iOS version, Android app also provides you the ability to make changes offline. This is very much beneficial to those who work with a poor web connection – all the changes you made will be saved online when you reconnect to a network.
The notable thing is the absence of tablet support. Let’s hope the company soon releases support for even tablets.
Android users can download the app from Google Play Store for free. It works with devices running on Android version 4.0 or above.
