Frontline Commando is a little different from a standard Call of Duty style shooter in that you don’t move through terrain mowing down the bad guys. Instead, you tap a button to swap between four firing positions. These positions provide some degree of cover from incoming fire and only when you have killed all the bad guys do you progress to the next level. Fun, but basic.
The N.O.V.A. 3 Sci-Fi shooter switches over from iOS to Android and makes a great debut. With 10 single player levels and 6 multi-player maps, with 6 gaming modes and up to 12 players duking it out online, this one will keep you busy for a while.
Graphics are spectacular which comes from the 1.7GB download. Runs equally well on a smartphone or a tablet.
Critical Strike Portable is as close as you will probably ever come to a Counter Strike clone on a mobile device. With solid single player levels and some cool multi-player ones to keep you engaged, this game will feel exciting and familiar at the same time.
There are a limited range of weapons to choose from including assault rifle, sniper rifle, pistol, shotgun, frag & stun grenade, and a knife. You’ll want to become an expert at each.
Contract Killer 2 comes fast on the heels of the original. Like the original, you play a sniper who is tasked with taking down some high value targets in far off locations. New York, Moscow, Dubai and other important locations provide the backdrop. To mix things up and get in close for that kill, there are also other weapons like a taser gun which can be bought in-game.
Six Guns is a Western-themed game. Stroll around with your pick of 19 guns, and 8 horses for when you get tired checking out the town. Graphics are good, but gameplay is quite basic and the game take a while to load.
The Zombies are back in Contract Killer Zombies 2! Are you ready? You play Evelin who is adept at using any weapon from a knife to a grenade launcher. The graphics and special effects deserve an award. There are regular missions and a survival mode melee which will wake you up in a hurry. Unless you’re scared of Zombies, this one is worth checking out.
If you’re a lover of wildlife, then close your eyes now. Here you train your scope on leopards, bears, deer and caribou as they run past you or trample over you. Use a swiping motion, combined with zooming and firing options on the left and right side of the screen to try to be the Deer Hunter Reloaded.
Shadowgun has to be one of the most advanced shooters one can get for Android. The graphics are top notch; the better your system, the more you get out of them. The music and sound effects are a bit more simple. There are five different types of enemies in the game (Soldier, spider, flying laser robot, bad-ass soldier, shotgun soldier). They are a tough enough to kill that at times you’ll feel unarmed even with a weapon in your hands, so this game keeps up the challenge fresh.
Get your Zombie Killer “ON” in the fragging mayhem of Dead Trigger. Weapons a plenty from the Winchester rifle to an alien gun, it’ll be all you can do to survive. Superb graphics for a mobile game, smooth animation and decent AI, will ensure that the blood looks real enough that you’ll feel it.
Good ‘ole Max Payne is back in Max Payne Mobile. Roll back to 2001 and enjoy some “bullet time” as time slows down a la “The Matrix” film. One of the best third person shooters, with an engrossing storyline and solid action. Best to view on a large phablet or tablet display as Max was never meant for small screens.
Jump right back into the Sci-Fi universe with Mass Effect Infiltrator. Nine different Infiltrators let you challenge yourself in different ways. Tap to start firing on your target and tap again to stop. Watch your weapon doesn’t overheat, leaving you defenceless. Delicious space graphics from the 400MB download. Well worth it though.
No long playing Isaac, you now take the role of Vandal in this latest iteration of Dead Space. Scary trapped-on-a-spaceship visuals, good weapons that can be upgraded, excellent gaming controls including rolling your mobile device to rotate your weapon.

9mm from Gameloft is raw. You’re on foot, walking though different locales, kicking ass and taking names. Kicking down doors, flying through glass windows, shooting any bad guys in your path. Violence has never been so enjoyable! A good amount of profanity and other adult references, so maturity controls from Android may be in order for the kids.
Gameloft continues in the same vein with their Modern Warfare look-alike. The multi-player option is cool with six maps available to play with up to 11 other online players. The action comes thick & fast and in the 3rd version, Modern Combat 3 is now able to stand toe to toe with Call of Dut
Enemy Strike is a very capable FPS game from Killer Bean Studios where you defend against an alien invasion. Over 200 combat missions using 15 upgradeable weapons, tech gear, and more. The graphics, display of firepower and explosions are second to none. Enemies smart enough to seek cover and to flank your position. This first person shooter will give you some sleepless nights for sure.
