Google has just launched a dedicated iOS app for Chromecast. This app is aimed at simplifying the process of setting up and operating Chromecast via your iDevice.
The app is so simple. It will scan your network for the existing Chromecasts and then presents a list of supported devices. Thereafter, you can add a device from the list of existing Chromecasts. If the app couldn’t identify any device, there is an option to set up a new Chromecast.
For each device, you will have a set of settings, like the device’s name (editable), it’s network and IP address, time zone, etc. You are also allowed to reset and reboot the device directly from the General screen. There is also a button to give feedback right from the app.
The most interesting thing of ‘features’ in the app is the invitation to the cast video from 2 apps, Netflix and YouTube. Clicking on either of those icons diverts you to the corresponding app’s entry in the Apple App Store; regardless of whether or not you already have the app.
Chromecast app is downloadable via Apple App Store. This app is available for free and is compatible with devices running on iOS version 5.1 or above.
