Snapchat Update for iOS Brings Camera Filters and A Front-Camera Flash

Snapchat has pushed out an update to its iOS app, bringing it to version 6.1. This latest ephemeral messaging app brings a bunch of smart filters, visual filters and a few other additions.

The main addition in the revamp is the ‘Visual filters’. This feature brings beautiful color effects that helps you enhance your photos. To activate this feature, just swipe from right to left. Currently, this feature includes a black & white and a couple of color effects to choose from.

The update also brings 3 different ‘smart filters’ which allows users to add overlays to their photos, including weather and time. The latest version also brings a larger Helvetica font. You can set this by clicking again on the text entry box while typing a message.

There’s also a new front-facing flash option. When you turn on this feature, the app flashes white on the screen for better nighttime shots. And, you will also be able to add up to 7 contacts to your ‘best friends’ menu. Just select Additional Services under Settings menu in order to access all of these functionalities.

The update also introduces a new ‘Replay’ mode, which allows users to re-view their photos once a day if it’s turned on. Earlier, users were only had one shot to view a photo, but now users can use a backup play once a day.

The company says that this update is released as a holiday gift for users.
