Twitter has Updated Its iOS and Android Apps with Two-step Verification

Twitter has modernized its iOS and Android versions, bringing few improvements to the app’s login authentication process and other feature changes.

The major addition in the update is a form of 2-factor authentication, which you can activate and manage directly from the app. This is a more secure way to login to your accounts. You can enroll in login authentication and approve login requests straightaway from the app, without a need of any SMS messages. It involves push notifications, so there is no need of any phone number.

To enable the authentication feature, you need to go to the Me tab, open settings, and then click on Security. Then switch on Login verification, and ensure to store the generated backup code in a safe location. The app will now present approve requests whenever you log in to your Twitter account.

Apart from security, the update also brings search improvements. New search options provide social context as users type their search term, including a photo gallery in its results. Apart from swiping through photo thumbnails, you will now have a new ‘View more photos’ option to load more photos.
